A number of high-profile musicians participated in a tribute concert to George Jones on Sept. 8 and Sept. 15 at Nashville’s Acuff Theater. The special, titled George Jones: 50 Years of Hits, will air on PBS on Thanksgiving Day. During the second taping, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride and Emmylou Harris provided solo performances of his hits, while Jones himself sang duets with Shelby Lynne, Connie Smith and Wynonna, as well as some songs on his own. Others taking part in the tapings included Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Harry Connick Jr., Joe Diffie, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Sammy Kershaw, Lorrie Morgan, Aaron Neville, Trick Pony and Uncle Kracker. Jones will release a two-CD set, 50 Years of Hits, on Nov. 9.
