Strait Compilation Tops Pop Albums Chart

George Strait: 50 Number Ones will debut on the Billboard 200 chart reflecting sales of all styles of music. When the sales numbers were first released Wednesday (Oct. 13), it appeared that Strait’s compilation had landed in second place just behind Usher’s Confessions. According to Billboard, a reporting error from a mass merchant prompted Nielsen SoundScan, the company responsible for the sales tallies, to reprocess the chart. The revision placed Strait’s sales of 343,000 copies ahead of Usher’s 336,000. In related news, “I Hate Everything” — the bonus track on 50 Number Ones — has topped the Billboard country singles chart. It means that Strait’s greatest hits package now contains 51 songs that reached No. 1 in a variety of trade publications.
