Jesse McReynolds and Charles Whitstein — both survivors of prominent brother acts — will release their tribute album to pioneering brother duos on March 15 on Pinecastle Records. McReynolds is the surviving member of the longtime Grand Ole Opry act Jim & Jesse, which came to an end with Jim McReynolds’ death in 2002. Whitstein performed and recorded with his brother Robert as the Whitstein Brothers until the latter’s death in 2001. He now tours with McReynolds and his band, the Virginia Boys. Titled Gone but Not Forgotten (after the song McReynolds wrote for his late brother), the album spotlights 11 other cuts recorded and made famous by the Louvin, Delmore, Stanley, Bailes, Monroe, Wilburn and Morris brothers.
