McCready Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge

Mindy McCready has been fined $4,000 and sentenced to three years of supervised probation and 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty Monday (Nov. 29) to a drug charge. The singer was arrested Aug. 5 for presenting a fraudulent prescription for the painkiller OxyContin to a Nashville-area pharmacy on Feb. 11. McCready obtained 90 of the pills but contended the drugs were not for her own use. McCready’s attorney says part of her community service work could include a charity concert to raise money for a local drug rehabilitation program.
