Country artists and songwriters are mingling and skiing with affluent fans during Country in the Rockies XI in Crested Butte, Colo. Continuing through Sunday (Feb. 6), the six-day event is the primary fundraiser each year of the T.J. Martell Foundation’s Nashville division. The biggest show of the week featured Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson with special guests Charlie Daniels, Kenny Loggins and Jamie O’Neal, but informal performances are taking place at venues throughout Crested Butte. Performers include Jeffery Steele, Paul Overstreet, Robert Earl Keen, Scotty Emerick, Gary Chapman, Deborah Allen, Suzy Bogguss, Lari White and Kathy Mattea. The non-profit T.J. Martell Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for research into the treatments and cures of leukemia, cancer and AIDS. To date, the Nashville division has raised $13 million to support the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville.
