Willie Nelson has cancelled an Australian tour because of laryngitis. The six-city tour was set to begin Saturday (Feb. 19) in Perth and close Feb. 27 in Melbourne. In a written statement on Nelson’s Web site, Dr. C. Gaelyn Garrett said Nelson sought treatment Monday (Feb. 14) at the Vanderbilt Voice Center in Nashville. The physician said, “He has been diagnosed with acute laryngitis associated with an upper respiratory infection. I have advised him that he limit his voice use … over the next three weeks to allow for appropriate healing.” The Australian concert dates have not been rescheduled because of conflicts with Nelson’s upcoming tours, including 12 shows in the United Kingdom in March and April.
