Scott Borchetta, senior vice president of promotion and artist development for the Universal Music Group Nashville, announced plans Monday (March 7) to leave the company. “I’ve had a burning desire to run my own record label for quite some time now,” he said in a statement. During his tenure as head of DreamWorks Nashville’s promotion department, Borchetta was instrumental in securing radio airplay that helped propel Toby Keith’s career, beginning with the 1999 single, “How Do You Like Me Now?!” Borchetta was named to run UMG Nashville’s radio promotion department after DreamWorks became part of UMG last year. Other UMG labels include MCA Nashville, Mercury Nashville and Lost Highway.
