Ian Tyson Releasing First New Songs in Six Years

Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Ian Tyson releases his first album of new material in six years when Songs From the Gravel Road arrives in stores on April 12. The Rounder Records project is described as "12 songs from both the heart of the West and heart of a working rancher disillusioned by the failure of love and the souring of a culture." Tyson began concentrating on cowboy themes after melding folk, country and rock during the '60s and '70s with former wife Sylvia Tyson in the duo, Ian & Sylvia. Tyson has often noted that two recordings of his songs paid for his ranch in Alberta -- Suzy Bogguss' 1991 version of "Someday Soon" and Neil Young's 1978 version of "Four Strong Winds."
