The Stanley Brothers' Earliest Recordings: The Complete Rich-R-Tone 78s (1947-1952) will be released Tuesday (April 12) by Rounder Records. After performing on radio shows in Norton, Va., and Bristol, Tenn., Ralph and Carter Stanley began their recording career on Rich-R-Tone, an independent label based in Johnson City, Tenn. The duo later recorded for a variety of labels, including Columbia, Mercury, Starday and King. Carter Stanley died in 1966.
