Aaron Tippin’s Father Killed in Traffic Accident

Aaron Tippin’s father died Monday (April 11) after his 2002 Ford pickup collided with a logging truck near Greenville, N.C. Investigators said Willis Emory “Tip” Tippin, whose 78th birthday took place Monday, was driving on a state highway when he crossed the center line. The driver of the logging truck swerved to avoid the accident, but Tippin’s vehicle ran into the side of the trailer and its wheels. The elder Tippin, who operated Aaron Tippin’s Firearms in Oak City, N.C., was a fighter pilot during World War II. In October, the Federal Aviation Administration presented him the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in recognition of more than 50 years of safe flying.
