Travis Tritt Exits Columbia Records

Travis Tritt and Sony Music Nashville are parting ways after three albums for Sony’s Columbia Records imprint. A press release issued Monday (April 25) by Tritt’s publicist cited problems surrounding his 2004 album, My Honky Tonk History. According to the press release, “Despite releasing the most highly-praised release of his storied career, Tritt differed with Sony on the project’s direction, leading to the split.” He performs Tuesday (April 26) at New York’s Madison Square Garden during the Jammy Awards, a show featuring Sinead O’Connor, Buddy Guy, Bruce Hornsby and Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh.
