Salvation Army Honors Jimmy Wayne

The Salvation Army presented Jimmy Wayne with its William Booth Award earlier this month in Ithaca, N.Y. Wayne was recognized for drawing national attention to the organization's Angel Tree program, the subject of his song, "Paper Angels." He is the youngest recipient in the history of the award named for the Salvation Army's founder. "The Salvation Army touched my life in a very personal way when I was a child," Wayne said. "Both my sister, Patricia, and I had our own paper angels on one of those trees. Writing 'Paper Angels' was my way of saying thanks." He is currently in the studio working on his second album.
