N.Z. Officials Oppose Twain’s Mansion Plans

Shania Twain wants to build a private compound on a New Zealand sheep farm that she is leasing, but a local planner and architect are opposed to the idea. An approval hearing is scheduled next week. The local officials believe the compound — a house, garage, guest cottages and other buildings — is not in harmony with the local landscape and will be visible for miles, according to The Associated Press. Twain paid $15 million (U.S.) to lease the property for 33 years.
