Oregon Passes Biodiesel Bill

The Oregon House of Representatives has passed Bill 3781, a piece of legislation that makes it easier for farmers to produce biodiesel. Willie Nelson has heavily promoted the alternative fuel made from soybeans or other agricultural products that can be used in place of diesel fuel without vehicle modification. Nelson even has his own line of fuel, called BioWillie, and uses it in his tour bus. The Oregon bill creates and expands tax incentives for production facilities, agricultural production and research and development related to biofuel production. The legislation needs approval by Oregon’s state senate and the governor before being enacted.
