Stem Cell Research Professorship Named for Nelson

Willie Nelson and his wife will soon become the namesakes of a professorship recently created at the University of Texas’ Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In March, Nelson headlined a concert that raised about $250,000 for stem cell research at the university. The initial Annie and Willie Nelson professorship will go to Dr. Eric Olsen, chairman of the medical center’s molecular biology department. The medical center focuses on mouse stem cells in researching ways to treat and cure human diseases.
