Grand Ole Opry star Jesse McReynolds and his singing partner, Charles Whitstein, gave a sneak preview of their upcoming album, A Tribute to Brother Duets, Monday (June 20) at Nashville’s Gibson Café. Grammy-winning producer Carl Jackson (Livin’, Lovin’, Losin: Songs of the Louvin Brothers) sat in with the band on guitar and banjo. It was McReynolds and his late brother, Jim, then performing as Jim & Jesse, who hired Jackson as their banjoist when he was 14 years old. Among the 12 songs performed for the crowd were tributes to the Bailes Brothers (“Remember Me”), Jim & Jesse (“Are You Missing Me”), the Blue Sky Boys (“Kentucky”), the Louvin Brothers (“When I Stop Dreaming”), the Delmore Brothers (“Blues Stay Away From Me”) and the Monroe Brothers (“What Would You Give”). The Pinecastle Records album will be in stores on June 28.
