McCoury Leads New Bluegrass Releases

The Del McCoury Band released a new album, The Company We Keep (McCoury Music/Sugar Hill), on July 12. The band is the reigning IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) entertainer of the year. Other new bluegrass releases include: Jim Mills' Hide Head Blues (Sugar Hill), featuring his collection of four Gibson Mastertone banjos; Michelle Nixon's What More Should I Say? (Pinecastle); and Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike's That's What Love Can Do (Bell Buckle). Bluegrass reissues include Flatt & Scruggs' 1957 album Foggy Mountain Jamboree, with three non-LP bonus tracks; a 52-track compilation from the duo, titled Foggy Mountain Gospel: The Complete Columbia Gospel Recordings; and Earl Scruggs' 1972 album I Saw the Light With Some Help From My Friends, with three previously unreleased bonus tracks from the original sessions.
