Gill, Nelson, Clapton Guest on Mad Dogs & Okies

Vince Gill, Willie Nelson and Eric Clapton are among those making guest appearances on Mad Dogs & Okies, a new album by veteran drummer and producer Jamie Oldaker. Others appearing on separate cuts on the 15-song album include Tony Joe White, Peter Frampton, J.J. Cale, Willis Alan Ramsey, Bonnie Bramlett, Taj Mahal and Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson. Oldaker began working on the project in 2001 with the intention of recording songs written by Oklahoma natives. He got his start as a drummer at Leon Russell’s Tulsa-based Shelter Records and later recorded and toured with Russell, Clapton, Frampton and Bob Seger. Oldaker is also a founding member of the band, the Tractors. The CD hits the streets Aug. 30.
