Kix Brooks Plays County Fair

After launching Brooks & Dunn’s Deuces Wild to huge crowds, Kix Brooks played a casual songwriters’ night performance this week at the Williamson County Fair in Franklin, Tenn. Brooks’ portion of the show included his version of “Modern Day Romance,” a No. 1 hit he wrote for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1985. He shared the small stage with Bruce Channel (best known for the 1962 pop smash, “Hey Baby”), Larry Henley (who wrote “Wind Beneath My Wings”) and guitarist Ricky Ray Rector. Brooks had a good time, noting, “Maybe only 40 or 50 people saw us, but it didn’t matter.”
