Sherrié Austin will star in a new musical, The Ballad of Bonnie & Clyde, to be staged in New York City in September. According to a press release, the production “uses the Nashville sound to recount the story of the infamous outlaw couple. Bonnie breaks Clyde out of prison, and together they break the country out of the monotony of the Great Depression by dishing up country, rock ‘n’ roll, Grand Ole Opry style!” Only six performances will be staged beginning Sept. 14. The production is part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, which is dedicated to discovering new work and new artists. Austin, whose singles include “Streets of Heaven,” played the role of Pippa McKenna on the TV series The Facts of Life.
