Kathy Mattea and Miss Tennessee Tara Burns will serve as celebrity co-chairs of the Nashville AIDS Walk on Oct. 8. Burns will perform the national anthem prior to the walk. CMT is one of the sponsors of the Nashville AIDS Walk. A longtime advocate of AIDS awareness, Mattea assembled the Red Hot + Country compilation album in 1994 to raise money for AIDS education. She is considered the first country artist to publicly acknowledge AIDS, wearing three red ribbons to the CMA Awards in 1992.
