McGraw Continues Hurricane Relief Work

As Tim McGraw prepares to perform during a Friday night (Sept. 2) concert to raise money for hurricane relief efforts along the Gulf Coast, his thoughts are on those suffering in his home state of Louisiana. “It’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen, in our country, anyway, in my lifetime,” McGraw said during a series of interviews promoting the concert special, A Concert for Hurricane Relief, to air live at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC. “In this age of all the modern technology that we have, that we still have people stuck there — hundreds of thousands of people who are stuck and can’t get out — I just don’t understand why we can’t get them out.” McGraw and wife Faith Hill will perform on the special that also features Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Aaron Neville, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mike Myers, Claire Danes, Lindsay Lohan, John Goodman and others. McGraw is encouraging contributions to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund at or by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW. However, he added, “If you don’t feel comfortable with the Red Cross, anything that you feel comfortable sending money to — that you know is going to get to the hurricane victims — send money. Because that’s what you can do to help. And a lot of prayers. Lots of prayers.”
