Since Valentine’s Day is the first holiday of the year that uses a color, let’s start
there with this simple recipe. OK?
First layer:
2 3-ounce packages red Jell-O (strawberry, cherry or raspberry)
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold pineapple juice
Mix Jell-O with boiling water. Stir until well blended. Stir in cold pineapple juice. Refrigerate until congealed.
Second layer:
1 large can crushed pineapple, drained
8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 ½ cups pecans, finely chopped
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 pint cream, whipped
Mix all ingredients and spread over the congealed layer.
Third layer:
Repeat first layer and allow it to reach the consistency of egg whites. Pour over second layer. Congeal and serve.
Now!
Easter, use pastel colors! Lemon Jell-O for first layer and lime Jell-O for
third layer.
Memorial Day or 4th of July use red Jell-O and berry blue Jell-O for red,
white and blue!
Halloween and Thanksgiving use orange to fit the pumpkin color scheme.
Christmas is always red.
Enjoy.
