Party Toasts Celeb Recordings of Mister Rogers’ Songs

With participating artists B. J. Thomas and Crystal Gayle in attendance, producer Dennis Scott unveiled his album and DVD package, Songs From the Neighborhood: The Music of Fred Rogers, on Thursday (Sept. 22) at a party held at the ASCAP building in Nashville. The album and a “making of the album” DVD feature performances of songs written by children’s TV host Mister Rogers. In addition to Thomas and Gayle, the participating artists are Ricky Skaggs, Amy Grant, Jon Secada, Roberta Flack, CeCe Winans, Donna Summer, John Pizzarelli, Bobby Caldwell, Maureen McGovern and Toni Rose. The album will be released on the Memory Lane Syndication label Oct. 25. Prior to Thomas singing his cut from the album — “It’s Such a Good Feeling” — Fred Rogers’ widow, Joanne, addressed the partygoers by telephone. “I was overwhelmed by [the] wonderful performances,” she said.
