Toby Keith, disc jockey-singer Billy Parker and guitarist Tommy Allsup were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame during ceremonies Thursday night (Oct. 27) in Muskogee. Cain’s Ballroom, a historic nightspot in Tulsa, was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, and recent American Idol winner Carrie Underwood received the Hall of Fame’s Rising Star award. Parker, a longtime air personality at radio station KVOO in Tulsa, charted several singles as a vocalist in the ’70s and ’80s. He also worked with Bob Wills and Red Foley and is an alumnus of the late Ernest Tubb’s band, the Texas Troubadours. Allsup played guitar in Buddy Holly’s band and later found success as a session guitarist and record producer in California, working with Wills, Willie Nelson, Bobby Vee and others.
