Garth Brooks Plans Times Square Show

Tuesday Night Appearance Expected to Be Part of CMA Awards Telecast

NEW YORK — Garth Brooks is expected to perform live in New York’s Times Square as part of Tuesday night’s (Nov. 15) CMA Awards show.

A stage with extensive lighting and a video display was constructed Monday near 43rd Street and Broadway, one of the world’s busiest intersections. Early Tuesday afternoon, a member of the crew confirmed to that the stage was built for Brooks’ performance.

The CMA previously announced that Brooks would perform his new single, “Good Ride Cowboy,” during its 39th annual awards show. The song is a tribute to Brooks’ friend, Chris LeDoux, who will be honored posthumously with the CMA Chairman’s Award during the CBS telecast.

Of course, Brooks’ performance will also call attention to his new project with Wal-Mart. After severing ties with his longtime label, Capitol Records, earlier this year, Brooks is releasing a specially priced boxed set that will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores. Containing five audio CDs and one DVD, the package includes 11 previously unreleased songs.

Brooks is already featured in Wal-Mart’s television advertising campaign that’s already underway. The boxed set arrives on Nov. 25.
