Arlo Guthrie Sets City of New Orleans Tour Dates

Arlo Guthrie has announced the dates and venues for his Arlo Guthrie & Friends: Ridin’ on the City of New Orleans tour. The seven-stop train swing from Chicago to New Orleans will raise money and equipment to help restore the New Orleans musical infrastructure devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Keyed to Guthrie’s 1972 hit recording of Steve Goodman’s “The City of New Orleans,” the tour is co-sponsored by Amtrak. Along with his son Abe, daughter Sarah Lee and other supporting artists, Guthrie will perform Dec. 5 at Vic Theatre in Chicago; Dec. 7 at Lincoln Cultural Center, Kankakee, Ill.; Dec. 10 at Canopy Club, Urbana/Champaign, Ill.; Dec 11 at Thelma Keller Convention Center, Effingham, Ill.; Dec. 12 at Copper Dragon, Carbondale, Ill.; Dec. 13 at New Daisy, Memphis, Tenn.; and Dec. 17 at Tipitina’s, New Orleans.
