Earl Scruggs Injured at South Carolina Festival

Country Music Hall of Fame member Earl Scruggs was released Sunday (Nov. 27) from a Myrtle Beach, S.C., hospital after sustaining minor injuries the night before during an accident at the 36th annual South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival. According to the Sun News newspaper in Myrtle Beach, Scruggs, 81, had finished his performance and was walking off the stage when the bright stage lights impaired his view and caused him to fall. Scruggs, who hit his head and suffered a cut above his eye, was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Scruggs was the final act to perform during the three-day festival at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
