BMI, the performance rights organization, hosted a reception Wednesday (Nov. 30) for the editor and contributors to a new book, Music City Reader 2005: Great Writing on Country & Bluegrass Music. Editor Randy Rudder, assistant professor of English at Nashville State Community College, served as the event’s master of ceremonies. The anthology’s 22 articles cover such classic country and bluegrass artists as Jimmy Martin, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, as well as the more current Gretchen Wilson, Brad Paisley and Gillian Welch. Among the contributing writers attending the celebration were Michael McCall, Nancy Cardwell, Phil Sweetland, Paul Kingsbury and CMT.com’s Edward Morris. The collection is published by Music City Books.
