Sirius Now Reaches 3 Million Subscribers

Sirius Satellite Radio has surpassed its 2005 goal of reaching 3 million subscribers. Approximately 9,600 subscribers were added each day in the fourth quarter. Sirius’ competitor XM Satellite Radio closed the third quarter with slightly more than 5 million subscriptions and will announce its fourth-quarter tally next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Much of Sirius’ growth is attributed to the arrival of air personality Howard Stern, who begins his satellite show on Jan. 9.
