Willie Nelson Tosses Beads at Mardi Gras

Willie Nelson was among the revelers throwing beads while riding with the Krewe of Bacchus at a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans on Sunday (Feb. 26). Some officials estimated the crowd at 400,000, although the event often drew around 1 million visitors in previous years. The carnival season was shortened to eight days this year because of the city’s shortage of cash and staff. The parades lead up to Fat Tuesday, the day before the official start of Lent on Wednesday (March 1).
