Clark Parts With Mercury, Byrd Signs New Deal

After more than 10 years with Mercury Records, Terri Clark is parting ways with her longtime record label, according to a message on her official Web site. Noting she was signed to Mercury in 1995, Clark said, “During that time, I formed many wonderful relationships with the staff and will always look back on our years working together with great fondness. I am extremely excited about future career possibilities.” … Meanwhile, Tracy Byrd has signed an agreement with Artist to Market (A2M) Distribution to be the exclusive distributor of his forthcoming album. A2M is a subsidiary of the Handleman Company, which distributes recorded music to retailers, most Wal-Mart and Kmart. In streamlining the supply chain, Byrd’s new album will be released this summer with a suggested retail price of $9.99. A2M last year released CDs for Tommy Lee and Sinéad O’Connor.
