Little Big Town were joined by friends and family Tuesday (May 2) to commemorate the gold status of The Road to Here, their debut album for Equity Music Group.
Equity president Mike Kraski presented plaques to group members Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Roads, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook who in turn recognized others who have played a part in their success.
Prior to the party, Little Big Town met with the media and acknowledged, “It’s been a great journey.” They related the story of driving in their van all night to their next gig. While stopped for coffee, they had a conversation with a monk who encouraged them by saying he would “put them on the monastery prayer list for 30 days.”
After opening shows for John Mellencamp in March and April, the quartet will resume touring Thursday (May 4) with an appearance at the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville. Future concert dates include appearances with Carrie Underwood (May 12-13) and two with Kenny Chesney.
They have also received two ACM nominations, top vocal group and top new duo or vocal group of the year. Their current single, “Bring It on Home,” has reached No. 22 on Billboard‘s country singles chart.
