Doug Supernaw Cleared of Public Intoxication Charge

Singer Doug Supernaw has been acquitted of public intoxication charges in connection with a March 6, 2005, incident in Bryan, Texas. When he was arrested, police claimed Supernaw was yelling obscenities as he walked past an apartment complex at 2 a.m. A security guard testified that Supernaw smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words and staggering as he walked. At the trial, however, Supernaw's attorneys noted there were no field sobriety, breath or blood tests proving Supernaw was guilty of the misdemeanor charge. Wednesday's (May 10) acquittal marks the fourth time Supernaw has been cleared of charges in the Bryan area. He still faces a charge of evading arrest in connection with last year's incident. Supernaw topped the country charts in 1993 with "I Don't Call Him Daddy."
