Wynonna, Jason Aldean Help Chely Wright Raise $100,000

Wright's Annual Charity Concert Also Featured Little Big Town and Julie Roberts

Little Big Town, Jason Aldean, Julie Roberts and Wynonna donated some quality time to a friend Tuesday night (June 6) when Chely Wright hosted her sixth annual Reading, Writing & Rhythm benefit concert as one of the events leading into the CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

Fans lined the street outside the Wildhorse Saloon for their chance to buy tickets to the event that raised more than $100,000 for the nonprofit organization Wright founded to provide musical instruments and equipment to public schools in need.

Little Big Town kicked off the night with a set that included the hit single, “Boondocks,” to set the precedent for the rest of the night as fans stood cheering and singing along to some of their favorite country tunes. And Aldean didn’t leave any room for questioning as he belted out his first country chart-topper, “Why.”

The fun didn’t stop there. Roberts kept fans on their feet with covers such as “Girl Next Door” and “Proud Mary” while moments later Keith Anderson went “Pickin’ Wildflowers” with his audience. Ty Herndon made a special guest appearance singing one of his past number No. 1 hits, “Livin’ in a Moment.” But it was Bryan White who raised almost $1,000 for the charity as audience members offered to pay as much as $300 each for him to sing their requests.

Wynonna won over the crowd as she belted out some of her classic hits, including “No One Else on Earth.” By the end of her set, the entire Wildhorse Saloon was engaged in a heartwarming singalong of the Judds’ 1990 smash, “Love Can Build a Bridge.”

Wright ended the successful evening by singing some of her most popular material, including “Bumper of My SUV.” Wright thanked everyone in attendance as well as the country acts for supporting the cause.

Wynonna best summed the night when she said, “Tonight, I’m here for one reason … and that’s love.” The statement rang true for the artists and dedicated fans who came together for the love of children and music education.
