Bonnaroo Music Festival Wraps Up in Tennessee

The 2006 Bonnaroo music festival concluded Sunday (June 18) near Manchester, Tenn., with two fatalities, a decrease in drug arrests and four days of great music. Some 76 arrests, primarily drug-related offenses, were made during the festival that featured performances by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Radiohead, Beck, Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Bonnie Raitt, Nickel Creek and many others. Joshua Overall, 21, of Hamilton, Ohio, was killed Friday night (June 16) when he walked in front of Ricky Skaggs’ tour bus on Interstate 24. Overall climbed over a chain-link fence and walked into the path of the bus traveling toward Nashville after Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, performed at the festival. On June 11, a contractor working at the festival site died after he was thrown from the back of a pickup truck. Hillario Suarez, 25, of Roswell, Ga., was attempting to hold down a tent that was being delivered to the festival.
