LeAnn Rimes Parties With Her Hit Songwriters

Keith Urban Shows Up to Help Celebrate Success of "Something's Gotta Give"

Keith Urban joined a throng of well-wishers Wednesday (July 26) at Nashville's ASCAP building to help LeAnn Rimes celebrate the success of her latest hit single, "Something's Gotta Give." Written by Tony Mullins and Craig Wiseman, the song is the lament of a ripening woman who's still looking -- and rather desperately -- for Mr. Right.

Urban came to the party with his producer, Dann Huff, who also produced Rimes' hit. The newlywed singer-guitarist pretty much became the center of the room as soon as he entered it, with people flocking to him to extend greetings and snap pictures. Still, he stayed as close to the edge of the proceedings as possible while Rimes and the songwriters were accepting their awards.

Also on hand was Mike Curb, the president of Rimes' label and a major Music Row philanthropist. Ever the promoter, Curb reported to the crowd that Rimes also "has the "No. 1 record in Taiwan."

Meeting with reporters before the party, Rimes was bubbly and apparently recovered from her recent surgery for what her Web site describes as a leg tissue infection.

Referring to her husband, actor Dean Sheremet, Rimes observed that she was "lucky to have been married at 19" and explained she chose to record "Something's Gotta Give" because she has "a lot of friends who haven't found Mr. Right yet." She added that her followup single, "Some People," is more autobiographical. "It says a lot about who I am and where I am in my life right now."

Although it's slowly sinking in on her that she will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, Rimes said, "My mom's reaction was, 'Honey, you finally made it.'"

Rimes touched only briefly and circumspectly on her recent medical procedure. "I did have minor surgery, but I feel great." She characterized the surgery as "really gross" and added that she was disinclined to talk about it because "I want people to look at me and say, 'She's a pretty girl,' not [that she's] disgusting."

Wiseman presented Rimes with a stuffed toy -- a white cat wearing a collar with the letter "J" on it, a nod to a feline named Jake mentioned in the lyrics of "Something's Gotta Give." The songwriter also presented stuffed cats to several others involved in the single's success.
