Kathy Mattea will teach performance techniques at the Mountain Stage NewSong Academy at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va., on Aug. 23-25. Mattea will also perform Aug. 25 at the instructors' concert. Other instructors include Ysaye M. Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock and songwriter Jason Blume. The NewSong Festival follows on Aug. 25-27 with a songwriting contest and live performances throughout Shepherdstown.
