Hazel's Hot Dish Recipe of the Week

It’s sweet potato time!

6 medium sweet potatoes
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 cup water
1 stick butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Boil sweet potatoes until tender. Let cool. Peel and slice potatoes. Arrange in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Blend sugar, brown sugar and flour in a pan. Stir in water and add melted butter, vanilla and nutmeg. Mix well and bring to a boil. Pour over sweet potatoes. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake for 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the syrup.
