The Tumbleweed, the dance and concert hall where Garth Brooks once worked as a bouncer, will officially close in December after operating for 25 years in Stillwater, Okla. Owner Hank Moore has announced plans to sell the venue and its 35-acre site during a Dec. 7 auction. With a history of more than 400 concerts, the Tumbleweed was a popular stop for country artists. In addition to Brooks, the list of those who performed there includes Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Travis Tritt, Keith Whitley, George Jones and Chris LeDoux. Upcoming shows include a Saturday (Dec. 2) jam session featuring Lee Ann Womack, Cross Canadian Ragweed’s Cody Canadian and others. The final weekend features Jason Boland on Dec. 30 and No Justice on Dec. 31.
