Seven Quality of Life finalists were announced Monday (Jan. 22) at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas during the arrival ceremony for the 2007 Miss America contestants.
The seven finalists are: Miss Alabama Melinda Toole, Miss Arizona Hilary Griffith, Miss Georgia Amanda Kozak, Miss Indiana Betsy Uschkrat, Miss Michigan Angela Corsi, Miss Rhode Island Allison Rogers and Miss Virginia Adrianna Sgarlata.
The Quality of Life Awards program was introduced in 1988 as the first community service-related scholarships presented to Miss America contestants. They have since been amended with numerous other community service awards sponsored by the Miss America Organization to contestants at all levels of competition and to high school students.
The winner of the Quality of Life Award will win a $3,000 scholarship. The first runner-up will receive a $2,000 scholarship and the second runner-up a $1,000 scholarship. Winners will be announced at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Saturday (Jan. 27).
