Tommy Ramone Forms Bluegrass Duo

Tommy Ramone, a founding member of the punk band the Ramones, will release a bluegrass CD with Minneapolis-born singer-songwriter Claudia Tienan. Billed as Uncle Monk, the duo’s self-titled album, featuring 14 original songs, will be released May 22 on Airday Records. Tommy Ramone (born Tommy Erdelyi) was the Ramones’ drummer, producer and manager when the band first gained attention in New York during the ’70s. His songwriting credits include “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.” He left the band in 1977 and produced albums by the Talking Heads, Redd Kross and the Replacements.
