Dixie Chicks, George Canyon Win Juno Awards

The Dixie Chicks’ Taking the Long Way won a Juno Award — the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy — in the international album category during Saturday’s (March 31) awards presentation in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. George Canyon’s Somebody Wrote Love won for country recording, while Gordie Sampson (co-writer of “Jesus, Take the Wheel”) was named songwriter of the year. Pop singer Nelly Furtado won two awards on Saturday, plus three more during the televised ceremony on Sunday night (April 1).
