Billy Joe Shaver Surrenders, Released After Shooting

Billy Joe Shaver turned himself in at a Waco, Texas, jail on Tuesday (April 3) after he shot a man at an area bar on Saturday night (March 31). After posting $50,000 bond, Shaver was released. His attorney stated that Shaver acted in self-defense after an aggressive drunk man followed Shaver out of the bar with a knife. The man was reportedly shot in the cheek. Shaver's charges included assault and a weapons charge. A well-known singer-songwriter who regularly performs throughout Texas, Shaver also released a new compilation, Greatest Hits, on Tuesday on Compadre Records.
