Mary Chapin Carpenter Cancels Tour Due to Illness

Mary Chapin Carpenter has canceled all of her tour dates in June and July to recover from a recent hospitalization. After completing a series of spring dates despite pain from a back injury, she was then hospitalized for a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in her lung), according to her official Web site. She was released from the hospital on April 27 and is recovering at home in Charlottesville, Va. She hopes to resume her tour in 2008. She released a new album, The Calling, earlier this year.
