The 80th anniversary of the Bristol Sessions will be commemorated with an exhibit beginning June 28 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family were first recorded during the 1927 Bristol Sessions, which are considered the origin of country music. Highlights of the exhibit include the Carter Family's first recording (a 78-rpm disc of "The Poor Orphan Child," backed with "The Wandering Boy") and Rodgers' Underwood Standard typewriter, which he used to type lyric sheets for use during his recording sessions.
