Veteran music journalist and author Tom Roland has launched RolandNote.com, an extensive country music database aimed at radio personalities, music professionals, journalists, dedicated fans and other researchers. Compiled over a 12-year period from more than 650 sources, the site catalogs more than 36,000 events in country music history with detailed background credits for more than 8,500 of the genre’s most important recordings. RolandNote.com is the first music Web site that presents its core database in a chronological format, and the technology also allows users to isolate specific events, including births, deaths, significant performances and gold and platinum albums. Access to RolandNote.com is offered free during a beta period. On Monday (July 9), the site will be available for subscription at $9.95 per month.
