Kenny Chesney Covers Dwight Yoakam’s “Wild Ride”

Kenny Chesney’s next album will include a cover of Dwight Yoakam’s “Wild Ride,” with electric guitar by the Eagles’ Joe Walsh. Chesney was in Los Angeles when Walsh recorded his part. While in California, he played the final version for Yoakam. “Dwight came by the hotel,” Chesney said. “We sat in the parking lot in his car and just listened. It was like high school — getting in somebody’s car to check out some song you’re totally into. Only it was his song — and he liked it.” Chesney’s album, Poets & Pirates: Just Who I Am, will be released Sept. 11. The first single, “Never Wanted Nothing More,” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country airplay chart this week.
