Billy Joe Shaver’s Spiritual Album Among New CDs

Singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver released a spiritual album, Everybody’s Brother, on Tuesday (Sept. 25), on Compadre Records/Music World Entertainment. Produced by John Carter Cash, the project includes duets with John Anderson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Marty Stuart and Tanya Tucker, the latter of whom joined Shaver for a rendition of “Played the Game Too Long” during a Los Angeles concert on Friday (Sept. 21). … Other new releases include Steve Earle’s Washington Square Serenade (New West), Bettye Lavette’s The Scene of the Crime (Anti), Bobbie Nelson’s Audiobiography (Justice), Rascal Flatts’ Still Feels Good (Lyric Street), Ricky Skaggs and the Whites’ Salt of the Earth (Skaggs Family), Randy Travis’ Songs of the Season (Word), Gene Watson’s In a Perfect World (Shanachie) and Goin’ Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino (Vanguard).
