Garth Brooks’ CD Targets Cancer Awareness

Garth Brooks will release a special “pink edition” of The Ultimate Hits, his upcoming CD/DVD boxed set, to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer organization. Additionally, the package will feature breast health and breast cancer information and an instructional card on breast self-examination. Appearing Monday (Oct. 15) at a press conference in New York, Brooks announced that $10 from each sale of the special edition will go to the charity. It will sell for $15 on the Susan G. Komen Web site. Brooks said he decided to offer the special edition after watching his wife, Trisha Yearwood, train for and participate in an event challenging participants to walk 60 miles over three days to benefit Komen and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. He noted that making and compiling his boxed set was “a heck of a lot easier than me trying to walk 60 miles.” The Ultimate Hits — the special edition and the version sold at mainstream retailers — will be available on Nov. 6.
